Welcome to Worldmade.info

Worldmade is a global programme to supply large numbers of appropriate wheelchairs through a network of wheelchair services all over the developing world.

The Fit for Life assembly and prescription training courses are designed to prepare non-professionals for running a wheelchair provision service in developing countries. These services will enhance the quality of life of wheelchair users by carrying out an individual assessment of their needs before prescribing and fitting an appropriate wheelchair.

The Fit for Life prescription training course targets the skills required to successfully assess and prescribe a wheelchair, and provide wheelchair users with basic instruction in using their wheelchair. The course also encourages development of a positive attitude towards wheelchair users, and an awareness of the rights and abilities of people with a disability.

The Fit for Life assembly course is designed to give wheelchair technicians an introduction to wheelchairs and wheelchair users, demonstrate the importance of correctly fitting wheelchairs and teach the assembly and maintenance of the Worldmade rural wheelchair.

To date there have been 28 graduates of the prescription course, and 8 from the assembly course. Students so far were from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka where the first training was held.
